I have a fun but draining social work job, and arrive at class in a transitional energy dip. But I am REALLY appreciative of the level of support and affirmation and encouragement and universal welcome in this SIS community. It is infectious and inspiring and a great reminder that there are wonderful pockets of make-the-world-a-better-place. It just WHOMPS the atmosphere of the last place I danced with. If everyone was like this group the world wouldn't need social workers. THANK YOU. From LH Thanks SIS!! We SIS girls are incredibly lucky to have the two best teachers in the belly dance world. Seriously, for those of you who haven’t taken elsewhere....it is an eye-opener! Hugs!!!! From Betty aka Salima Sisli < Salima Sisli> Dear Chari & Tammi. It was so fun watching SIS BRING IT at the end of the performances last night. It's really good you came last, because it would have been rough for those other troops to follow your act. You even acted gracious when the weird thing happened with the music. Wow--style, solid dancing, smiling, confidence, total MOJO--you guys had it all and I can see why you win awards. Congratulations!! :) < Maria> I feel as if your dancing is cutting edge in originality, style, technique, beauty, range – all of it. I love the variety and I LOVE the SISterhood felt in the studio from the minute you walk thru the door. I’ve NEVER met a friendlier, more dynamite group of women before! It is a big compliment and we'd love to share it. And we are thrilled you are a SISter. Thanks hun. < Peggy> Dear Yasmine and Saiedeh, You are both amazingly talented, generous, and nurturing angels, and I, among many others, am grateful to you for everything that you do. Take care and enjoy! Love, ;-) Yosifah Rose < Yosifah Rose> Thanks, Tammi and Chari, for offering such a vibrant and joyful dance to the women of our community! < Maria> Happy Anniversary, you Belly Dance Beauties! Thanks for bringing the joy of dance to everyone you know. You guys are fabulous! You've made a huge difference in the dance world....THANKS! Hugs, Toni/Thalia < Thalia> Wow! What an Event! I truly enjoyed it, from the atmosphere, to the setting, to the judging (SO fun!) to the fabulous dancing! I really, really enjoyed myself, and I am so honored you chose me to be a judge for this wonderful group of very talented dancers.....Thank you again for a wonderful, beautifully done, elegant event! < Dejah> Thank you (and all your Sirens :-) ) for putting together such a classy event. Each year I have seen the effort you all make to create a fun, clever and sophisticated ambience. I especially enjoyed the ball room dancing!! You obviously think through each year how to make it work smoother (new dressing room downstairs, covered entrance to the stage) and I think that is just fab! Thank you again for a super show! < Naiya> I was honored to be part of your wonderful event, and I’m deeply grateful for having a chance to participate. You put on such an extraordinary show, and made all the dancers feel at ease and at home. I also can’t recall having so much fun dancing the Macarena! Thank you again for everything your event should not be missed by anybody. < Iman> I love and appreciate SIS - you are THE most supportive and friendly dance organization I have ever met. I wish you the best of luck at the upcoming competition. By Michelle Joyce < Michelle Joyce> I took my first belly dancing class when I was 19 with Sula in Walnut Creek. Unfortunately, with my other dancing obligations I couldn't do both. Was looking for something positive and fulfilling to put into my life again and decided to get back into dancing. I joined a class in Martinez with Yosifah Rose and became excited about dancing again. I attended a master class at the SIS studio in Benicia and knew instantly that I had found a home in dance! Tammi and Chari bring such an artistic element to the dance. The SISters are all so great to be around, that it is like extended family. I love it! Love it! I encourage others who are looking for a wonderful experience in dance to visit the SIS Studio. It is positive energy and wonderful fun! < Salima Sisli> Hi Saiedeh & Yasmine, I'm sending you digital photos of Sirens Insanity from Fantasy Fest this weekend. I recalled that I had your address from Rakkasah, so you should have this package tommorow afternoon :-). I really liked what you did with your performance: it was very feminine, and sacred as well. This work is a gift of service from me to you at zero cost. The photos are yours to use unrestrictedly and without any licensing encumbrances whatsoever. Tacitly, this just my personalized form of Goddess Worship. Blessings, Michael < Michael Baxter> I had a wonderful time at Enchanted Camelot. What a fabulous venue and the whole idea of combining a theme party and contest is wonderful. I can just imagine the photos! The photographer seemed to have fun with the other gal and myself while we were dancing while the judges scores were tallied. I can hardly wait for next year! It was also good to see both you and Saiedeh at Tatseena's Fantasy Festival. Your troupe is amazing. I have always enjoyed watching them. Take care, Devora < Devora> THANK YOU so much for an really nice event. You and Saiedeh and crew did an outstanding job - not just at welcoming and feeding us but also at making the contestants feel more relaxed under the stress of "a contest". Please let them know how much it was appreciated! The quality of the dancing was quite wonderful. I must confess, I peeked as much as possible at my beautiful dance sisters in both categories I was in and cheered them on! The score sheets are really invaluable. The constructive criticism is one of the things that prompted me to pick your event as my first competition (plus the "good vibes" you all put out). As a budding instructor (pushed into teaching by students who keep wanting to learn from me), it was good to see that I already had a fairly good grasp on my strong and weak points (also thanks to Tatseena and Najia). This helps me to really focus my personal dance goals for 2006 (2005 was "Year of the Sword" where I finally got really good with that -formerly- scary thing!). Again, many thanks. Namaste and Happy Dancing! Flor De Luna < Flor De Luna> Hello! I want to first thank you for an amazing night, my friend who was there was just in awe at the wonderful production that was done that night. I was also amazed at the wonderful fun and friendly people who were there. your set up and the costumes were so much fun! Blessed Be, Naima <Niama> Yasmine & Saiedeh- Thanks so much for the wonderful evening. All of your efforts to make it special for the participants were greatly appreciated and created such a magical atmosphere. I also posted something on bhuz about how much fun it was. I would love to be involved as a volunteer next year! Thanks again. Michelle Joyce <Michelle> Dear Yasmine, Saiedeh and Sister and Brothers In Sanity: I would like to take this opportunity to thank you very-very much from the bottom of my heart for the warm hospitality and caring you surrounded me and everyone with at the Enchanted Camelot Belly Dance Party and Competition last night. It was an event never to be forgotten. I was truly honored to be a judge. I really enjoyed all the performances, all the dancers were unique and absolutely gorgeous. The place was once again amazing and I loved everyone in their costumes! I really hope you were able to raise some money for the schools, you guys are just awesome and beautiful people inside and out. Thank you very much for all your hard work! The angels were just adorable (I called the two cute ladies at the scoring table that) and I hope there will be lots of pictures of everyone! Thank you for the special prize for my costume, everything is greatly appreciated. Wishing you absolutely the best in everything for the future! Sincerely, Adry Svraka <Adry> Oh My Gosh Dear Yasmine! Everyone totally loved you and you were very much appreciated. People were talking about you all throughout the party and My friends were saying "How appropriate that she danced to Jamileh" (Jamileh means beautiful). Another friend told Nader that he is so impressed that a non middle eastern has mastered the art better than any middle eastern dancer he has seen. It was fantastic and you gave lots of life to the party....Selma. <Selma> The acts were spectacular at Emerald Fest!!!!!!!!! Yasmine your tantalizing performance demands repeating. Your son is a blessing for you both and I know he has graced your day on this special day-Mothers. <Delphine> Hi, thanks for the warm welcome. You have brought a group together with very special energy. It was my pleasure to be there! See you next week. Esther. <Esther> Your belly dancing place is really an improvement to the area. Joseph. <Joseph> Hi Yasmine. Your performance at the San Leandro festival was fantastic. <Ma*Shuqa> Hi Ladies, I just wanted to let you know that I thought your event was awesome! You guys did a great job!! I cannot wait until next year!!!!!!!! I hope everything is well with you and you can relax a little now. Well, send you both a hug!!! Jizan <Jizan> Dear Sirens In Sanity. Thank you so much for putting on such a wonderful event! As a participant in the competition, I felt very taken care of. The dressing room was great, all of your volunteers were friendly and helpful, and you seemed to be really organized. This did a lot to calm my pre-performance jitters - very appreciated. You also did a really great job breaking up the show with those intermissions. My friends & I really liked the photo booth and my parents really enjoyed the refreshments & 40s music (I even caught my mom dancing by herself in the aisle a couple times!). What a great idea to give a theme to the night - I didn't feel like I was dragging my family & (non-belly dance) friends to yet another middle eastern/belly dance event. :) Your night was first class all the way and I can't wait to see next year's event. Thank you again....Evangeline. P.S. Also, thanks for the goodie-bag in the dressing room - everyone thought it was a really nice touch. <Evangeline> Hi Yasmine & Saideh! I got up this morning thinking "I must write to Yasmine to tell her how absolutely CLASSY their Casablance night was." Thank you - I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I am by the attention to detail, the obvious efforts all your students and troupe members made, and the efficiency that made everything run so smoothly. I heard lots of compliments about the venue as well - it is a wonderful place! I KNOW that this is destined to become one of the big BD events in town! I hope all of you are very very proud of how well Casablanca went! Naiya ps. we look forward to helping with the next one! <Naiya> Hello Sirens! I had such a wonderful time at A Night At Casablanca & especially appreciated getting the score sheets and so quickly! They're incredibly helpful and I'm so grateful for the time the judges took to give us feedback. It was much appreciated since it's not often that we get to get helpful comments from professional dancers. Also they were very kind and put in warm compliments and remarks with the helpful critiques. You had a great panel of judges. Thank you all for such a wonderful experience. I was very happy to be part of your first event and am looking forward to next year! > Malika. <Malika> Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your event, A Night At Casablanca. I had a blast and enjoyed the work that went into the competition. I also have to say that those Trophies were probably the COOLEST! ones I have ever seen. ;o) And I've seen many of them. ;op. Thanks again! Mina <Mina> Hi Yasmine and Saiedeh,I can't say enough about your Casablanca event, you are extremely conscientious and gracious event promoters! And judging from how your students love you, I'm not surprised. And....thanks so much for the lovely box and incense for being one of your judges. It was a wonderful experience for all. :)Ireena <Ireena> WOW!!!! I have no words to describe how wonderful your Casablanca event was last night. Thank you so very much for both of you and the wonderful people who helped before, throughout, and after the event for all your hard and wonderful work! I have never been to a most wonderful belly dance event, where everyone was treated equal and supported no matter who they were. I did not even feel like I was at a competition...I just wanted to have fun on stage and entertain. It was an awesome night with awesome people serving and helping and just... oh, wonderful!! Thank you for having me there and for the BEAUTIFUL and unexpected gifts (never had I been to a belly dance event, where everyone received a gift). I love the lip gloss and nail polish colors and my daughter "took care of" the melon body lotion for me... :o) I could go on and on and on and on. And the greatest pleasure of all was to meet you both (and all) in person already. Oh, I have met such wonderful people, thank you thank you!!!!! Lots of Love and Hugs to you all and have a wonderful Sunday! You guys are such a wonderful people, and I am very fortunate to know you. :)Adry <Adry Svraka> Dear Yasmine and Saiedeh, I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed Sirens In Sanity at DDF 2004. What an extravaganza of talent, top-notch choreography, beauty, and diversity! Kudos to you Sirens, one and all! Love, Yosifah Rose <Yosifah Rose> It was nice to see you, too. And the troupe looked awesome! Very current, very fun, and very entertaining. Loved it! I especially liked how you utilized so many dancers by having different styles/people/costumes/dances, and then had everyone come out together for the finale. It really worked. Cheers, Monica <Monica> I so love your style, grace, CLASSY and professionalism, you emulate the true identify of a belly dancer and performer. (Feel free to quote that if you want, girlfriend, there should be more dancers out there with that quality) xoxox Karri! <kudka@hollinet.com> USA, CA USA - Wow, what a performance SIS Dance Company gave at Tribal Fest! Congratulations Siren Sisters on FIRST RUNNER UP TROUPE OF THE YEAR 2002, BELLY DANCER OF THE YEAR PAGEANT!!! Everyone did so very, very, VERY well, and as a troupe we showed the world what we are made of (even if backstage we were all nerves and jitters). but when we went out there, after the initial quivers and trembles, once we hear dour music, and the cheers, and felt the vibes, did you not feel just totally wonderful doing that great dance???? All in all, those many emotions, the highs and lows, the hope and despair, the excitement, the joy and the tears, the tension...then the TOTAL surprise when they said we were first runner up!!!!!!!!!! SCREAAAMMMM!!!!! What an incredible experience! Would I do this again? Heck yes!! this troupe is destined for the stars......you all are such wonderful ladies! To Saiedeh, Tasmine, and Ayana: you are a wonderful and truly inspiring trio, the best metors, teachers, and sisters of dance ever. Chenoa <fancynadom1991@msn.com> Vallejo, CA USA - Monday, May 27, 2002 at 14:26:45 (EDT) WOW, WOW and double WOW. I am absolutely blown away by my experience at the Belly Dancer of the Year Pageant. I experienced so many feelings on Sunday (joy, dread, nervous stomach, the shakes and jitters) but it was all worth it. I went into this Pageant not expecting to win anything, but to just experience the whole event. I am absolutely blown away that we took home a trophy. I couldn't be more proud of each and every one of my SISters. Yasmine and Saiedeh - you two are the ultimate teachers/instructors. You not only teach us to dance, but to be strong, loving and kind.
